Primary Sjögren's Syndrome Presenting as Flaccid Quadriparesis.
Primary Sjögren's syndrome is an autoimmune disease presenting classically as keratoconjunctivitis sicca. Renal involvement in Sjögrens's syndrome is less common, and the initial presentation with renal complications without any sicca symptoms is extremely rare. The renal involvement may present with symptoms arising from interstitial nephritis, mainly distal renal tubular acidosis.
متن کاملPyomyelia presenting as acute flaccid paralysis
We report an unusual case of a 10-month-old girl with intramedullary spinal cord abscess who presented with fever and acute flaccid paraplegia. Nerve conduction study showed demyelinating neuropathy after which she received intravenous immunoglobulin therapy. This was followed by ascending paralysis and left-sided ptosis. Lumbar puncture revealed purulent cerebrospinal fluid and magnetic resona...

A 67-year-old male known to be hypertensive and diabetic had a sudden onset of severe low back pain and flaccid paraplegia with no sensory level or bladder affection and the distal pulsations were felt. Acute compressive myelopathy was excluded by MRI of the dorsal and lumbar spines. The nerve conduction study and CSF analysis was suggestive of acute demyelinating polyneuropathy. The patient de...
متن کاملNebivolol Induced Hyperkalemia: Case Report
In this article, we document a conclusive case of nebivolol-induced hyperkalemia for the first time in the known medical literature. Hyperkalemia is associated with serious conditions such as cardiac arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. Nebivolol was not known to cause hyperkalemia, and this event is not listed in its summary of product characteristics (SmPC). For older beta blockers, hyperkal...
